
NYCHA Jefferson Houses Cloudburst Resiliency
Grain Collective is creating new and improved, resilient open spaces that celebrate multigenerational use for residents at Jefferson Houses. Key elements of the design include central gathering spaces, new playgrounds, streetscape improvements, and a stormwater management masterplan which incorporates strategies designed to minimize flooding during intense cloudburst events.

A deep engagement process included virtual and in-person focus groups, pop-up events, online surveys, and other hands-on activities to gather feedback, in partnership with local organizations. Stakeholder input help shape the design to create public open spaces for enjoyment, resiliency and community pride.
