Reimagine Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Flushing Meadows Corona Park (FMCP) is one of New York City’s largest and most diverse public parks, serving as a vital recreational, cultural, and ecological resource for communities across Queens and beyond. For many of the neighborhoods surrounding the park, FMCP functions as a shared backyard: a place for everyday recreation, family gatherings, cultural traditions, and connection to nature. As part of Vision 2050, a long-term initiative to shape the park’s future, Grain is leading a multilingual community engagement process centered on understanding the needs, experiences, and priorities of these communities and the people who use the park.
Through workshops, pop-ups, surveys, stakeholder engagement, interactive activities, and on-site research, Grain is exploring how people use and experience FMCP, what they value, the barriers they encounter, and what they want to see improved. By bringing these perspectives together, the process is building a community-driven vision and actionable priorities for future investment, programming, and improvements, helping FMCP better serve its surrounding neighborhoods while strengthening its role as a welcoming, connected, and resilient park for all.
