Grain Collective is supporting NYCHA by creating new and improved, resilient open spaces that celebrate multigenerational use for residents at Jefferson Houses. Key elements of the design include central gathering spaces, new playgrounds, spaces for the teens, a garden for the seniors, streetscape improvements, and a stormwater management masterplan. A deep engagement process has been carried out since the inception of the project that included virtual and in-person focus groups, pop-up events, online surveys, and other hands-on activities to gather feedback, in partnership with local organizations. The stakeholder input from these events will help shape the design to create public open spaces for enjoyment, resiliency and community pride.
